Hi!
This is my first blog post over here, I decided that I wanted to blog about my journey to getting ready for the 2012 Enbridge Ride To Conquer Cancer. I have another blog, but thought it would be best to create a blog that is dedicated 100% to this. I have to be honest, I am not ready, at all. I was training for the ride when the weather was nice, I was motivated and it was fun. Then the weather started changing and I got lazy, quite frankly. I told myself that after Christmas I would start back in again, but it is now February 1 and I have yet to start. I had a mini panic moment yesterday when I sat back and thought about it. I will NOT back out of this, if it kills me to cross that finish line in June, I will. I am going to try my hardest blog every day, that way I am accountable to something. Whether I train good or not I will blog about it. I bought a spin bike and pick it up on Sunday, so I plan on spinning 3 times a week to start and then after a few weeks I will kick it into high gear. I have a plan for training, I just need to force myself to start it. It's hard, because no one around here is even interested in training with me I wouldn't want to either if I wasn't riding so I have no motivation. My motivation should be the cause, I know this. Ok, so maybe I am using that as an excuse when really I am just lazy for not wanting to get up and moving. We have perfect weather here too for winter training, no snow really this year, mild temperatures, fairly dry conditions.
I have been totally slacking with fundraising as well. I had all these ideas and then just never got around to them. My team mate and I have started though, and I think really soon we should start getting a lot of good donations. I have asked all my friends who drink like fish like a drink on the weekend to keep their empties for our bottle drive. With the Super Bowl coming up and then NHL playoffs among other things, I imagine we will do really well with a bottle drive. We are also thinking of doing a bowling fundraising night, I just have to figure out how that would work. We have plenty of ideas, it is just getting them into action.
